Red, while aggressive on walls, can be perceived as alert and conscious on the floor. Yellow walls range from exciting to intimidating depending on the intensity and can be elevating. Blue walls are encouraging and floors are substantial, more so with dark blues. In order to test these theories that speak for humans across cultures, the photographs include variations of these ideas through an interior space that changes very little in content but wildly in color. The primaries here work well to create strong contrasting hues that hold the viewer’s attention. The white is used to provide another level of contrast that keeps the colors from crossing paths too much.
